Panera Bread Copycat Orange Scones

I don't know about you, but my favorite breakfast item from Panera Bread is always their orange scones. And now I can enjoy them in the comfort of my own home and so can you, c'mon let's get whipping.

 

Ingredients

For the scones:

-1/4 cup granulated sugar

-zest from one large orange

-3 cups flour

-3/4 tsp salt

-1 Tbs baking powder

-4 oz. cream cheese, cold

-6 Tbs unsalted butter, cold

-2 eggs

-1/3 cup milk

-2 tsp vanilla extract

-1 tsp orange extract


For the orange glaze:

-2 cups confectioners sugar

-4 Tbs orange juice

-1 tsp orange extract

-zest from one large orange



Directions

Scones:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

1. In a large bowl whisk together sugar, zest, flour, salt, and baking powder until combined.

2. In a food processor pulse in cold cream cheese, cold butter, and eggs.

3. Gradually add in dry ingredients until combined.

4. Pour in milk and vanilla and orange extracts, pulse to combine.

5. Remove dough to lightly floured surface and cut into triangles.

6.Place onto sheet and bake for 15 mins or until golden. Let cool.


Glaze:

1. In a medium bowl add sugar, juice, extract, and zest.

2. Whisk until smooth.

3. Dip scones or coat and serve.
